The Tasmanian Electoral Commission says a general election for the House of Assembly was held on Saturday 19 July 2025, and that polling closed at 6 pm that day.
The Commission says Tasmania has five divisions: Bass, Braddon, Clark, Franklin and Lyons. It says seven members will be elected to represent each division for a term of up to four years, and that voting is compulsory.
The same page says that, due to recent changes to legislation, Parliament is increasing in size from 25 to 35 members in the House of Assembly, with seven members to be elected from each of the five divisions. The amending Act was not read for this page.
The Australian Electoral Commission’s determination notes that Tasmania is guaranteed a minimum of five members of the House of Representatives under section 24 of the Constitution, and determines five electorates for the next federal election.
