Where this page sits
The regional tier in this release is the prefecture. Municipalities, and the House of Representatives single-member districts, do not have pages yet.
Article 92 says the organisation of local public bodies is fixed by law under the principle of local autonomy. Article 93 says each has an assembly and that residents directly elect the chief executive and the assembly members. The Ministry describes separate elections for prefectural governors, prefectural assembly members, municipal mayors, and municipal assembly members.
Government
Gap. The governor’s name, the assembly’s party totals, and the next polling day are not printed here. The sources read on 17 October 2026 say the chief executive and the assembly members of a local public body are elected, and that an election caused by the end of a term is held within 30 days before the term ends. Those sources do not print each prefecture’s term-end date.
Municipalities
Gap. Municipality pages and single-member district pages are not in this release. Article 93 of the Constitution says a local public body has an assembly and that residents directly elect the chief executive and the assembly members. The Ministry’s account treats local public bodies as prefectures and municipalities.
